Food addiction needs to be taken seriously
If rats in experiments become addicted and dependent on sugar why are we blaming the victims?
Does one cookie lead to another? How about potato chips?
Rats given added sugar for a few weeks will show all the signs of addiction including binging and withdrawal when the sugar is taken away. Studies also seem to show that these rats will also easily become addicted to other substances once the addiction parts of the brain have been sensitized to this stimulus.
Obviously, there are other factors involved in our hyper sugared culture including marketing but the addictive aspects of our food need to be taken seriously. Above is a link to the "Yale Food Addiction Scale, Give it a try.
